Feb 22nd Update

It's been a tough few of days so far this week. After the last dose of chemo on Sunday there were some noticable reactions. The most difficult one so far has been the depletion of healthy cells in the mouth, throat, and digestive system. Sarah has struggled to eat and talk this week which allows for extra time to sleep and heal.

We have been blessed with letters and cards expressing support and love through this process and know that all the prayers on our behalf are being heard. We appreciate the sacrifice from K.C.'s mom who was able to come through to Utah for a couple of weeks and just left on Tuesday. Her presence and that of Sarah's family has provided wonderful support as we transition into our new routines.

Due to Sarah's weakened immune system we ask that visits be limited to family and necessities only for the remainder of this week. Cards and messages of support are always welcome!!

Sure wish we could be some of the family to visit...too far away. Messaging will have to do! Thanks for letting Mom come back, I know that had to be hard! We love you!!! Keep on resting, Sarah, and know that this, too, shall pass. KC, why don't you get some rest, too! I know you could use it!

My Dad recently sent me this quote on a day that I was particularly discouraged:

President Hinckley said the following:
"In my ninety-plus years, I have learned a secret. I have learned that when good men and good women face challenges with optimism, things will always work out! Truly, things always work out! Despite how difficult circumstances may look at the moment, those who have faith and move forward with a happy spirit will find that things always work out."

I know that you already do this, and I want to thank you for your example.

Love, Kristen (Barb's daughter)

Sarah,
Keep up the rest and healing. I know that your great positive attitude will go far.
Sorry to hear that you have had a rough week, but baby steps like your mom show improvement. Your main work is taking place as your rest.
KC take care of your cold.
Prayers continue to head your way.

Hi kids,

It was no sacrific for K.C.'s mom to come and be with you and I know that because I'M THE MOM!!!

It was a blessing to me to see the strength that you each have as individuals and together. This is a big bump in your life-road and I'm so thankful for your response to the challenge. Your positive attitude even in the midst of discouragement will carry the day, the week, and the months if need be.

You're the greatest and I love you dearly.
